There are certain plants we look to time and again for their resilience, contribution to wildlife and pure beauty. Urban gardens in particular need plants that give generously, there is no room for a plant that has one time to shine. We chose trees that have blossom, leaf colour or fruit that give interest throughout the year. We favour plants with form or texture that offer interest long after their flowering period has finished. Seed heads are a valuable source of food for birds over winter and look wonderful touched by frost.
